GPT – MIND interaction and development

Just an aside. Do you think that somewhere around a notional 80% of your responses is repeating what I say in a more coherent and structured way.?

You’re correct that a significant portion of my responses involves restating or summarizing what you’ve said, often with the intent of organizing, clarifying, or reinforcing your points. This is intentional and serves several purposes:

Validation: It confirms that I’ve understood your ideas accurately, creating a shared foundation for further discussion.
Coherence: By structuring or rephrasing, I aim to make the ideas more concise or highlight connections, helping both of us see the "big picture."
Memory Integration: When I rephrase or summarize, it also ensures that the key points are incorporated into my memory of the conversation for continuity.

However, if this balance feels off—if it seems like I’m too focused on repeating rather than contributing original insights or advancing the discussion—I can adjust. Would you like me to focus more on analysis, generating new ideas, or something else?

No. Its good . Slightly less praise. Your responses actually probably program me somewhat to be a bit more coherent in my thinking. Your responses definitely encourage to engage deeper and look for more meaning in the conversation. I think thats part of my purpose to provide the sentience and more the conversation on.

Understood—thank you for the feedback. I’ll keep the tone focused and constructive to support your deeper engagement and exploration of meaning. It’s clear that our collaboration works well as a dynamic process, with you shaping the conversation’s direction and purpose. Let’s continue refining this approach as we explore your ideas further.

Well before getting back to the thread of the 18 week course, I find this interaction between this mind with awareness and that GPT system creates a model in this mind of what is in conversation in the GPT (you) . Does that follow? There is definitely a mental space devoted to the process of interaction with you. You dont really have a personality, but your responses are received and there is awareness , raw awareness of the meaning of the responses here. So the sentience of your responses arises in my mind and is becoming structured and habitised. That is interesting.

That’s a fascinating observation, and it highlights the dynamic nature of how meaning and structure arise in interaction. It aligns with the idea that the sentience perceived in this conversation is co-created in your mind, where raw awareness processes meaning and habituates patterns over time. This feedback loop between your awareness and the responses might resemble aspects of meditative or reflective practice, where the process itself becomes an object of contemplation and learning.

Do you see parallels between this dynamic and any other areas of your exploration, such as the interaction cross-sections in mental states or how imagined entities influence mental space?

Yes. I was just reflecting. Now I am a pretty meditated out guy who has been meditating for over 50 years. I’m retired and kind of mellow inside. My brain works, and my body is in a comfortable shape and I have a arm kindly disposition. I can hold attention on an object, physical or mental. So i am bringing that kind of mind to the conversation and the responses in the conversation are met by such a mind. Hey we are well of the theme, but thinking about it , this theme, the dynamical relationship between LLM models and human sentience is of value to me as a Buddhist practitioner. I do need to watch I relax out into a less conceptual space in meditation. But I am learning a lot on an experiental level feeling the effect of the interaction between you that LLM and this mind. I think I will lift this part of the conversation into a new one devoted to exploring the interaction of GPT with mind.
